The past year has been one of the strongest we have ever seen at XLFC. Not because of anything flashy, but because of the people who turn up every week, work hard and back each other to make real changes to their lives.
Across Reading, Maidenhead and Newbury, the numbers tell a powerful story. This is about weight lost, fitness gained, confidence built and habits changed for the long term.
As we head into 2026 with new XLFC sites launching, now is the perfect time to look back at what our current clubs have achieved.

What Our Clubs Achieved in 2025
Reading XLFC: As our first and biggest club, Reading had a huge year and continues to lead the way as expected. Across the whole of 2025 the group lost a combined 255.4kg (40.22st). The biggest individual loss came from Karl Boezalt with an incredible 37.3kg (5.87st) dropped over the year.
Breaking that down:
From January to June, Reading lost 126.5kg (19.92st) as a group.
From June to December, another 88.4kg (13.92st) came off.
The second half of the year also saw some brilliant competition and consistency.
Player of the phase: Dan Strong finished top with 148 points.
Top weight losses June to December:
Karl Boezalt lost 15.3kg (2.41st)
Maidenhead United XLFC
Maidenhead had another strong year, with a total loss of 96.9kg (15.26st) in 2025.
Top weight loss of the year: Dan Reid led the way with 12.4kg (1.95st) lost.
Breaking it down:
From January to June, Maidenhead lost 54.8kg (8.63st). From June to December, another 42.1kg (6.63st) came off.
In the second half of the year:
Player of the phase: Paul Fitzpatrick topped the table with 76 points.
Top weight loss June to December: Dan Reid again led from the front with 9.9kg (1.56st) dropped.
Newbury XLFC
Newbury might be much newer and smaller in numbers but the commitment is just as strong.
In 2025 the group lost a combined total of 21.3kg (3.35st). A great start to a new location and we're hoping for some big numbers from the guys in 2026!
Top weight loss: Sam Stockwell led the way with 3.9kg (0.61st) off.
That same total came in both the full year and the June to December phase, showing steady consistency from the group.
Player of the phase June to December: Andrew Endersby finished top with 31 points.
More Than Just Weight Loss
While the numbers are impressive, what really matters is what sits behind them.
These lads are turning up tired after work, pushing themselves through sessions they never thought they could do and making better choices away from the pitch. Many have improved their fitness, confidence and mental well-being alongside the weight loss.
One of the highlights of the year was our XLFC End of Year Charity Match, which brought players together from across the clubs and raised £180 (and counting) for Together for Mental Well-being. That support reflects what XLFC is really about, looking after both body and mind.

Looking Ahead to 2026
With Reading, Maidenhead and Newbury continuing to grow, we are also excited to welcome new locations into the XLFC family.
Beaconsfield Town XLFC launches in February 2026 with Cardiff, Bristol, Swindon and Oxford to follow - all with dates to be confirmed!
More sites mean more men getting access to the same simple formula that works. Football, accountability and a supportive team around you. It's going to be a BIG year for XLFC!
Built on People
XLFC has always been about creating a space where lads feel welcome, supported and pushed to be better than they were last week. When you add all three sites together, the scale of what the XLFC community achieved in 2025 really hits home. Across Reading, Maidenhead and Newbury, players lost a combined 373.6kg (58.83 stone) over the year. That is not just a statistic, that is dozens of men shedding the weight that was holding them back, improving their health and changing how they feel about themselves. It represents hundreds of training sessions, thousands of small better choices and a lot of graft from lads who decided they were ready to do something about it. That is what XLFC is all about.
Hundreds of kilos lost. Lives improved. A growing community that is only just getting started.
Bring on 2026.
