Reading XL FC are proud to announce the appointment of Paul Willis as their new First Team Manager. Paul brings a wealth of experience and passion for football to his new role. His dedication to the sport and his extensive knowledge of the game make him an ideal candidate to take over the role vacated by out-going manager Chris Broadhurst, who steps back from the touchline to focus on his role as Chairman and the wider growth of XLFC as it aims to expand its reach throughout 2025 and beyond.
Paul had the following to say on his appointment:
" I’m excited to take on this role with Reading XL FC, as I have benefitted massively from the programme over the last 18 months! I'm thankful to have been offered a role with the club as the 1st team manager and I'm excited to see where this team can go together! My playing days will be limited at the ripe old age of 54 this April and it’ll soon catch up, but thankfully I don't have to hang the boots up just yet, as I’m still turning out for our 2nd team too and staying as active as possible thanks to XLFC. This is exactly what the journey is all about, and I'm proud to represent Reading XL FC. Being the 1st team manager is a huge honour for me and something that I hope to continue to be involved with as part of this amazing project when the body does finally give up."
Long may this continue Paul! We can't wait to see what you bring to the team and on behalf of everyone at XLFC, we wish you all the success in the world! Out-going First Team Manager and Reading XL FC Chairman Chris Broadhurst also passed on a message of luck for Paul in his new role, saying:

"When handing over the reigns to Paul, I told him, 'You’ve absolutely got this — you're working with an amazing bunch of guys and stepping into a dressing room full of characters with loads to give on the pitch! I have no doubt Paul will do great things with the team. There’s plenty of talent in there — and just enough attitude to make things interesting. Take the good with the bad, the wins with the losses and do everything as a team! It’s all part of the journey! A huge welcome to the role Paul - we're thrilled to have you on board!" - Chris Broadhurst [Reading XL FC Chairman & Founder/CEO of XLFC]
Following Stewart West's recent appointment to the role of Club Secretary at Reading XL FC, the club is poised to continue its growth and looks forward to lots of success in 2025 and beyond.
