Highlighting XLFC's founding club and its recent nomination for a Pride of Reading Award 2025!

Held annually and growing year on year, the Pride of Reading Awards celebrate the amazing people that make up Berkshire's biggest town!
2025 has been an outstanding year for XLFC and its first-ever club in Reading. From just 19 players at its launch in July 2022, our Reading club has grown to over 50 players across two teams, with even more expected. Reading XL FC continues to welcome men of all shapes and sizes from across Berkshire, offering structured strength and conditioning sessions, organized 11-a-side football, and a strong sense of camaraderie among like-minded players united by their love for "the beautiful game." As members advance in their weight-loss journeys, they can compete in matches against similar clubs nationwide, enjoying numerous additional benefits as part of their membership.
Reading XL FC is proud to have been nominated for a Pride of Reading Award:
The nominator said:
"I'm nominating XLFC because they’re more than just a football club; they’re a lifeline for men in our community. “XLFC has created a safe, supportive space where men of all backgrounds can come together to lose weight, improve their mental health and find genuine connection through football. “Their impact goes beyond the pitch, they’re changing lives every week and helping men feel seen, supported and part of something bigger.”
XLFC is having a fantastic 2025, with Reading XL FC's nomination coming just a week before we head to the South East Regional Finals of the UK Start-Up Awards as a Finalist! XLFC Founder Chris Broadhurst had the following to say:
"We are incredibly proud of Reading XL FC’s nomination for the Pride of Reading Awards, which is fantastic recognition on a local level in the town where XLFC was created and comes at a very exciting time for us. As we prepare for the South East Regional finals of the UK Start-Up Awards next week, this moment highlights the incredible journey our founding team in Reading has been on, fueled by passion, perseverance, and community support. It’s a testament to the guys who make the team what it is to receive such an amazing and kindhearted nomination, so we thank our nominator from the bottom of our hearts for the honour."
