XLFC Wins 2025 Global Recognition Award for Innovation in Men's Health

XLFC has been honoured with a 2025 Global Recognition Award for its outstanding contribution to men’s health and well-being. The award celebrates the XLFC approach to tackling male obesity by combining physical fitness, structured support, and the power of community through football.

The XLFC Weight-loss Football programme blends weekly weigh-ins, strength and conditioning sessions, and 11-a-side football matches, all designed specifically for men who might otherwise avoid traditional routes to getting back in shape.

“This award is a huge honour for us and is all down to every guy that's taken part in an XLFC session,” said Tom Giles and Chris Broadhurst, Co-Founders of XLFC. “Our mission has always been to make fitness something men look forward to, where community, accountability, and camaraderie drive real, lasting change. This recognition reinforces that what we’re building is genuinely transforming lives.”

This recognition follows XLFC’s measurable impact and fantastic efforts made by players so far! Players across our first two clubs in Reading and Maidenhead (with Newbury since contributing since opening in October 2025), have collectively lost over 266 kilograms (approximately 42 stone) year to date, and rising. These results go beyond the scales, with participants reporting greater confidence, connection, and sustainable lifestyle changes that last well beyond the pitch.

The award also highlights XLFC’s commitment to innovation and social impact, scoring consistently high across these categories through the Rasch model evaluation system used by Global Recognition Awards.

Now closing in on 100 players across three live locations, XLFC’s growth shows no sign of slowing, with a fourth site already scheduled to open in January 2026.

This accolade adds to a growing list of honours for XLFC, including a Team of the Year nomination at the 2024 Reading Sports Awards, a Pride of Reading Award (2025) and a finalist position in the 2025 UK StartUp Awards within the Health and Well-being category.

“XLFC represents exactly the kind of innovative thinking and exceptional delivery that defines our award recipients,” said Alex Sterling, spokesperson for Global Recognition Awards. “They’ve created something truly special that changes lives while building genuine community connections.”

Alex goes on to state:

"XLFC's recognition with a 2025 Global Recognition Award reflects its exceptional contribution to men's health through programming that addresses physical wellness and social connection needs often overlooked by traditional fitness approaches. The co-founders' vision has created a model that perfectly demonstrates how community-focused initiatives can achieve superior health outcomes while building sustainable business operations. The company's expansion and exceptional feedback position it as an influential force capable of affecting industry standards nationwide."

This recognition reinforces what drives us at XLFC every day, creating a space where men can rediscover confidence, health, and connection through sport. XLFC will continue to grow, innovate, and inspire men nationwide to take that first step towards a healthier, happier life.

Here's to 2026 and beyond!
